[amsat-bb] Mode-S signal source from a 6 meter TX and a clipping diode?

Hi,

I remember seeing, somewhere, a very simple way to get a signal source as
mentioned in the subject.  As I recall, besides the obvious protective
attenuation, it was nothing more than a good rf diode and a resistor in
series.  I came up empty on Google, and wonder if anyone recalls the source
of this tip, and the details.
