I had a similar question and Greg, KO6TH, sent me his website address
showing his project. There is enough info that I am sure you could duplicate
the project/improve it if you wished.

If you have to ship a heavy package to Australia, the advantage of
homebrewing could be great since I expect shipping would really jack up the
price.

I just took a look at Gigaparts and the Yaesu G5500 is $625 and SatEL's rig
is $418. I am not sure that the price of SatEL's product would sway me to it
rather than the Yaesu if I were about to buy.
