I was wondering if anyone out there uses the 847 to power there downconverter instead of using a DC injector or something to that nature. I purchased the AIDC 3733 downconverter and before it ships out, I wanted to make sure the 847's external 12 volt/300mA power supply would do the trick?

For my portable setup I use my FT-847 to power my AIDC 3731 downconverter, with the downconverter's internal 12V regulator disabled. If you don't disable the internal 12V regulator in the AIDC downconverter, you definitely won't have enough voltage for proper operation of the downconverter.
The AIDC downcoverter draws about 150 mA. No problem powering it with DC on the coax cable from the FT-847 as long as you disable the 12V regulator (clip the regulator input and output pins and solder a jumper between the input and output pads on the PC board). By the way, K5GNA recommended this to me.
