Adding to what Fred has already said...

FWIW I used 17.2cm (6.77") as the spacing (calculated from c / 435MHz / 4 )
on the two 8+8 element versions I've built. This gave a 6mm difference at
the D3 (Yagi 1) and D4 (Yagi 2). The elements I used were 4mm so I have a
2mm physical separation.
